Zumbrota issues call for public art

"Skyline' by Greg Finnegan was part of the 2016 Art on Main in Zumbrota. The project will return for 2018.

ZUMBROTA—The Zumbrota Area Arts Council is bringing art to the main street of Zumbrota. The work of up to 24 artists will be used on street banners, brochures, the ZAAC website, displayed in store fronts and on social media.

Each art piece will be printed on a banner 48 inches tall and 24 inches wide. Banners will hang in Zumbrota from June to October 2018.

The original artwork and the banners themselves will be sold at the closing gala celebration. All the proceeds from this sale will go to ZAAC State Theatre Restoration Fund.

Hundreds of brochures showing the artwork and giving information about the artists will be distributed throughout the area. ZAAC and Zumbrota businesses will promote this event regionally. A website will be developed to display the artwork.

Organizers said as people think about what to create, remember to keep it bold. The banners will be viewed from a distance by people in passing cars and pedestrians. Subtle details and colors will be lost. Choose an appropriate subject. Banners will be viewed by people of all ages.

All entries must be received by April 16, 2018. More information and an artists entry from can be found at Questions can be directed at Sandy at or call All in Stitches at 507-732-4101.
