ZUMBROTA — Stained-glass art and paintings take center stage this month at Crossings at Carnegie. The exhibit featuring works from Marie Rose Adams and Lisa Arnold will be on display until Nov. 25.

Arnold of Minneapolis owns Xola Arts & Objects in Longfellow.

"I am inspired by nature, other art and artists, as well as all the pretty shiny materials I get to use. There's something wonderful I find in the metaphor of mosaics — taking something small or broken and giving it a new big, beautiful life by rearranging the pieces. I've always been attracted to little trinkets, tiny gems and sparkling treasures, so mosaics are the perfect fit for me."

She has spent her career making and teaching in the metro, across the state, around the United States, as well as in Jamaica and China.

When not in the studio, Arnold is often in a classroom, library or resource center helping people collaborate and leave an artistic legacy.

Adams makes carefully orchestrated, patterned paintings depicting domestic interiors with bold, layered planes of color, repeated motifs and a shallow sense of space. Her works often begins with a single pattern.

She lives and works in Minneapolis and is a fiscal year 2017 recipient of an Artist Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
