Members of the public, law enforcement officers and city officials gathered to recognize fallen officers during the Peace Officer Memorial Day Service on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.

Police Chief Roger Pohlman named Red Wing's two fallen officers: Chief James Daly and Officer John Peterson, who responded to a gunman call in 1907 and died of their wounds. He also recognized Lake City Officer Shawn Schneider who died in 2011 from wounds received while responding to a domestic violence call.

National Police Week is celebrated this year May 13-19. Mayor Sean Dowse issued a proclamation declaring May 15, 2018, as Peace Officers' Memorial Day in Red Wing.
