UPDATE: Red Wing nudges into first place in $500K contest, more votes needed

In an update published on the Small Business Revolution's Facebook page, Red Wing has moved into first place in the voting for a $500,000 downtown revitalization package.

Contest organizers said after nearly a full week of the standings remaining the same, Red Wing has narrowly moved into the lead on Feb. 15. Voting closes 11 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16. The Red Wing Public Library will be remaining open until 9 p.m. for anyone needing computer usage to vote. Red Wing High School will also stay open to allow computer lab access to the public.

Helping hand from Quzhou, China

Tao Peng of Minnesota State College Southeast shared information with Red Wing’s sister city in Quzhou, China. He said he received over 20 emails from China seeking more details. The voting information is being sent out to teacher groups and parents all over the province.

A call between Minnesota State College Southeast officials and a few of directors from the Quzhou government is scheduled to see how the sister city can help Red Wing get more votes.
