Senior housing construction project to break ground this month

Construction on a new senior living community in Lake City, shown in this rendering, begins this month.

A new Lake City senior living community will break ground this month.

The Bluffs of Lake City will be connected to an existing care center owned by Mayo Clinic Health System. The $13.4 million community will have 67 units, including independent and assisted living apartments, memory care apartments and a guest suite.

“We’re excited to have been part of the planning process to help bring these much-needed services to our community,” Dr. Tom Witt, president and CEO of Mayo Clinic Health System in Cannon Falls, Lake City and Red Wing, said in a news release. “Even though this won’t be a Mayo Clinic facility or operation, we will work collaboratively with the developers to provide care to the residents.”

The senior living community will be developed by Wildamere Properties, designed by Pope Architects and built by Welsch Construction. It will be managed by Ebenezer Management Services.

“Adding independent and assisted living along with memory care apartments will make the Mayo Clinic Health System in Lake City campus a complete continuum of care setting,” said Susan Farr, vice president of business development for Ebenezer Management Services.

Construction is set to finish in August of 2015.
