Funeral services have been announced for Prescott Police Chief Gary Krutke, who died Saturday, Aug. 5 at Regions Hospital after battling cancer. According to his obituary listed on the O'Connell-Benedict Funeral Home website (formerly Hill Funeral Home), funeral services for Krutke will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16 at Prescott High School (1010 Dexter St., Prescott). A burial with full military honors will take place at a later date at Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Fla.
At about 10:16 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, Pierce County Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene of a single motorcycle crash in the area of N3880 County Road in the town of Diamond Bluff. A 1998 Honda Shadow operated by Stillwater resident Jon Theodore Fila, 41, was traveling southbound on County Road O when it reportedly left the roadway, entered the ditch, overturned and ejected Fila, who was transported to Red Wing Mayo with undisclosed injuries. Ellsworth Fire and First Responders, and Red Wing Ambulance assisted Pierce County Sheriff's Office at the scene.
The long-awaited St. Croix Crossing bridge connecting Oak Park Heights, Minn., and the town of St. Joseph, Wis., opened to traffic at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2. TOWN OF TRIMBELLE -- Two people were airlifted from the scene of a head-on crash Wednesday, June 20 in the town of Trimbelle. Wisconsin State Patrol troopers responded to the scene of the crash at about 4:35 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 10 and County Road J in the town of Trimbelle.
TOWN OF MAIDEN ROCK -- A 74-year-old Plum City man was taken by helicopter to the hospital after he overturned his ATV and struck his head. Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies responded to N1601 76th St. in the town of Maiden Rock at about 10 a.m. Thursday, June 8 where Gerald L. Bemis had been operating a 2003 Polaris Sportsman 700 on his land. He reportedly lost control on a trail, overturned and hit his head.
TOWN OF SALEM -- A Webster man had to be airlifted Friday afternoon after sustaining a head injury at a local gravel pit. Pierce County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 2:40 p.m. March 31 that sent officers to the gravel pit on 390th Avenue, east of Highway 10 in the town of Salem.
TOWN OF OAK GROVE -- Weather conditions contributed to a two-vehicle crash late Sunday afternoon in the town of Oak Grove in which two people were transported to the hospital.

ELLSWORTH — A 31-year-old Ellsworth man faces multiple felony charges in Pierce County Circuit Court on accusations he repeatedly sexually assaulted a girl.
