Funeral services for Peder Husbyn will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Minneola Lutheran Church with the Rev. Sarah Nietz officiating. Burial will follow in the Zumbrota Cemetery. Mr. Husbyn, 87, of Goodhue, died Friday, May 15, 2009, at his home. Peder Berdiene Husbyn was born Nov. 25, 1921, in Minneola Township. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Husbyn was a retired carpenter, and had worked for John Matthees Construction.
Cooper Jeffrey Hawkenson, 2 days, son of Eric and Maggie (Flueger) Hawkenson, died Friday, May 15, 2009, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn. He was born Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at the Lake City Hospital in Lake City, Minn.
Mary Lou Morley, 80, of Red Wing passed away Wednesday, May 13, at her home. She was born in Red Wing to Ralph and Mae (Kruger) Morley on July 10, 1928. She attended schools in Red Wing and graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1946. She worked many years at S.B. Foot Tanning in the office starting Aug. 31, 1953. until she retired January 1993. Preceding her in death were her parents; Ralph and Mae Morley; sister Joyce Chinlund and brother-in-law Harvey Chinlund.
Elsie Maxine Kemp, 85, of Arkansaw, Wis., died Friday at the Plum City Care Center. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Arkansaw United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Gardow officiating. Burial will be in the Arkansaw Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand, Wis., is handling arrangements.
Alfred Edward Janisch passed away at home on May 14, 2009, at the age of 68. He was born in Plum City on June 21, 1940, to Adolf and Louise (Bitzner) Janisch. He grew up on the family farm on Lost Creek. He was married on June 12, 1965, to Viola (Langer) Janisch in Spring Valley, Wis. He had three children, Larry (Kristi), Daryl, and Denise (Brian) Jones. He also has three grandchildren, Heather Jones, Andrew Janisch, and Brandon Jones. @death of veteran: He served in the Navy from 1958 to 1962. After time in the military, he worked for Erickson's Refrigeration.
Alice Mae Hove, 78, of Ellsworth, died Thursday, May 14, 2009, at United Hospital, St. Paul. Alice was born on April 21, 1931 in Ellsworth, the daughter of Paul and Stella (Guest) Bartlett.
Jack A. Zwolenski, 70, of Ellsworth, died Monday, May 11, 2009, at his home. Jack was born on Aug. 26, 1938, in Minneapolis, the son of John A. and Grace (Fassett) Zwolenski. He was a graduate of Ellsworth High School. On Oct. 11, 1958 Jack married Peggy Dusek at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in River Falls. Jack was a longtime employee at 3M. He was an avid sports enthusiast and particularly enjoyed watching the Packers, playing golf and later in life enjoyed watching baseball. Jack wrote a weekly sports column in the Shopper for many years.
Jack Zwolenski, 70, died Monday at his home. Services are pending with the Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Ellsworth.
Norma Burnette Shefveland, 83, of Ellsworth, passed away Friday, May 8, 2009, at Ellsworth Care Center. She was born in Clarkfield, Minn., on Sept. 9, 1925, to Ludvig and Idella (Christiansen) Peterson. She married Robert Stanley Shefveland; they were married for 62 years. Stan passed away on July 5, 2007. Norma was an active member of English Lutheran Church, the Wisconsin Republican Party, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Norma is survived by five children, Richard D. (Jeanne) Shefveland of West St. Paul, Stanley A.
Rolin H. "Mike" Johnson, 80, of Lake City, Minn., passed away May 10, 2009, in Lake City after a short hospitalization. Mike was born Aug. 23, 1928, in Minneapolis to Melker and Jennie Johnson. He attended school in Mound, Minn., received his B.S. in business administration from Carthage College, Illinois, and a Masters of Science in Hospital Administration from Northwestern University in Chicago. @death of veteran: During the Korean War, he served as a staff sergeant in U.S. Army intelligence.
