Scott Allen Bredehoft, age 49 of Lake City died on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Scott was born on June 14, 1960 in Red Wing, the son of Harlis and Goldyn (Gatz) Bredehoft. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City. He was employed as a welder at the Twin City Shipyard and Carlisle Industries in Red Wing.
Walton E. Kyllo died on Wednesday morning at his home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Aspelund. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel, Zumbrota. Walton Eugene Kyllo was born on May 15, 1925, in Ellington Township to Elmer and Eleanor (Brandli) Kyllo. He graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1943. He then went to work for K.O. Severson, helping with the farming, and he later worked for Fossan Hardware and Implement. Walton married Margaret Goodman on May 12, 1950, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island.
Marvin W. Hoeft, 75, of Frontenac, passed away Tuesday at the Lake City Hospital Mayo Health System. Marvin was born Sept. 24, 1933, in Red Wing to Walter and Margaret (Steffenhagen) Hoeft. Marvin graduated from Central High School in Red Wing in 1950. @death of veteran: He joined the Army in 1950 and served during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1952 and returned to the Red Wing area. He married Marjorie Witt on Jan. 1, 1953, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Frontenac. He worked for Interstate Motors and Amdahl Chevrolet in Red Wing for 42 years. He was a member of St.
Dane Gerit Christopherson, 27, of Zumbrota, died Tuesday. A memorial gathering is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel in Zumbrota, with memories shared at 7 p.m.
Chaplain (Ret. Col.) Willis Warren Wessman, 88, Topeka, Kan., formerly of Red Wing, passed away Sunday at his home. He was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Cokato, Minn., the son of George and Beda (Lindberg) Wessman. He was a graduate of Augsburg College in Minnesota and Bethel College and Seminary in Minnesota. Willis served in the U.S. Navy from October 1944 to June 1946. He later served in the Army as chaplain from February 1951 until his retirement in March of 1979. He served during World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War eras. He married Dolores Poole on Aug. 30, 1946.
Donald Carl Rieck of Ellsworth was born May 16, 1926, in Red Wing, Minn., to Bernhard and Elsa (Hauschildt) Rieck. Don was called home to eternal rest on Saturday at the age of 83. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Frontenac, Minn. He married Connie Swanson on April 8, 1950, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Wing. In 1952 they purchased the Henry Swanson farm (Trenton Township) and in 1991 they moved to their home on Humble Avenue in Ellsworth, Wis. He loved the farm life, going to auctions, trips to Branson, Mo., and especially his John Deere tractors.
Gary LeRoy Jones, 66, of Red Wing, died Saturday at his home after a short battle with cancer. He was born on June 5, 1943, in Mankato, Minn., to Donald and VaLaine (Hanson) Jones. He grew up on the family farm and graduated in 1961 from Lake Crystal High School. On June 22, 1963, he married Carole Riess in New Ulm, Minn. They lived near Mankato where he worked for Kraft Foods in New Ulm, 7-up Bottling Co. in Mankato and then for Taystee Bread for over 20 years until the early 1990's. They moved to Red Wing in December of 1970.
Thomas Edward Carnel, 58, of Cannon Falls, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday afternoon after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Tom was born May 22, 1951, in Red Wing, the son of Robert J. and Irene C. (Lynch) Carnel. He grew up in the Cannon Falls area and graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1969. He attended Mankato State University and went to work with the Carlson Company in the travel business. He was a freelance incentive travel director, and enjoyed traveling the world.
The Funeral Mass for Augusta "Gussie" C. Schuster will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City, with Father Richard J. Dernek officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Lake City. Mrs. Schuster, 93, of Lake City, died early Friday morning, July 24, 2009, at the Lake City Medical Center. Augusta Christina Roth was born May 5, 1916, to Helen Roth in Goodhue County. She attended the Mary E. McCahill Institute for Elementary and High School in Lake City. On Aug. 17, 1939, she married Mervil Schuster at St.
Russell Gausman, age 78, of St. Paul Park, Minn., died on July 21, 2009, at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury. Russell Erving Gausman was born Aug. 18, 1930, in St. Paul, the son of Elmer and Aleatha (Wells) Gausman. On Feb. 1, 1951, he was united in marriage to Jean Berdt in St. Paul.
