Dorothy M. Peterson, age 83, of River Falls, formerly of Prescott, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009 at the Kinnic Long Term Care, River Falls. Services for Dorothy will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Hill Funeral Home, Prescott. Rev. Jean Gfall will officiate. Burial will be in the Pine Glen Cemetery, Prescott. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday for one hour prior to the service.
Dawn Marie Hanson, age 45 of Longville, Minn., formerly of Red Wing, died on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009 at her mother's residence in Hager City, Wis. She was born on June 15, 1964 in Red Wing. She grew up in the Red Wing area and graduated from Red Wing Central High School. She then worked for Hager City Express for a few years before relocating to the Walker, Minn. area in 1989. She began working at Forestview Lodge where she met her lifelong companion, Brook Kinder. After Forestview closed in 2001, she began working at Huddle's Resort in Whipholt, Minn., up until her recent illness.
Lisa Lynn Linder, 45, of Ellsworth, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, of cancer at Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. She was born Aug. 22, 1963, in Chippewa Falls, Wis., to Dale and Darlene (Theisen) Schultz. She attended Red Wing schools. She married Brian Linder on Sept. 4, 1982, in Red Wing at United Lutheran Church. They lived in Hager City. He died Sept. 21, 2004. She most recently lived in Ellsworth.
Marie Ann Steinbruckner, 66, formerly of Roseau, Minn., died on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D., with her family by her side. She was born on March 16, 1943, in Roseau, Minn. to R. Newell and Anora (Sorter) Dunham. Marie grew up in Roseau and graduated from high school in 1961. She went to the University of Minnesota in Moorhead, Minn., for one year and later earned a bachelor's degree in social work at Inver Grove Heights Community College. In 1965, she married Gary Blucher at the Riverside Lutheran Church in Wannaska, Minn.
Delores Jean Kenitz, 68, of Red Wing, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis. She was born June 14, 1941, in Zumbro Township, Wabasha County, to Clarence and Gladys (Pickering) Kenitz. She attended Red Wing schools. She worked at Candy Cane Daycare and in housekeeping at Fairview Seminary Home. She also delivered the Pioneer Press and the Red Wing Republican Eagle.
Marcia Jean Decker, beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and friend, quietly slipped away unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at Saint Marys Hospital, surrounded by her family. Marcia was born to Harold and Lois Wallace Nov. 14, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Marian Jean Schumacher, 76, of Lake City died Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at the Lake City Nursing Home. She was born July 18, 1933, in Lake City to Alfred "Fritz" and Lillian (Holst) Grobe. Marian grew up on the family farm in rural Millville. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1951. She began working at the local bakery where she met Dennis Schumacher. They married on June 28, 1952, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City.
Mabel C. Long, 90, of Red Wing, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at Fairview Seminary in Red Wing. Mabel was born Nov. 19, 1918, in Stockholm, Wis., to Charles E. and Christina M. (Magnuson) Long. She lived in Red Wing and worked at the Red Wing Shoe Factory. Mabel later moved to the farm on the Maiden Rock Bluff in Stockholm. She was a lifelong member of Sabylund Lutheran Church. Mabel is preceded in death by her three brothers, Harold, Milton and Fred Long. She is survived by several cousins. A funeral service will be held Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at 11 a.m.
Anthony R. "Tony" King, 30, died Aug. 14, 2009, from complications of his seizure disorder. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21 with visitation one hour prior to service and also 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, all at Washburn-McReavy, Hillside Chapel, 2610 19th Ave. N.E., Minneapolis.
Helen R. Nerison, 90, of Wanamingo, died on Saturday morning, Aug. 15, 2009, at the Fairview Red Wing Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Minneola Lutheran Church in rural Zumbrota with Reverend Paul Reppe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m.
