Ruth Emma Vivian (Erickson) Miller Sauter, 99, of Cannon Falls, died Wednesday evening at the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls, where she has resided the past four years. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls, with Pastors Gary Schulz and Carol Sinykin officiating. Burial will follow in the Cannon Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls and one hour before the service Saturday at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Angels Care Center. Funeral Mass for Jerry W. Roper will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City, Minn., with Father Richard J. Dernek officiating. A orivate burial will be at a later date. Mr. Roper, 60, of Lake City, Minn., died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, from injuries received in an auto accident near Beach, N.D., while heading to Glacier National Park in Montana. Jerry Wayne Roper was born Nov. 6, 1948, in Lake City to Lester and Marion (Hygnstrom) Roper. He attended school in Lake City and graduated in 1966 from Lincoln High School. He served in the U.S.
Devoted mother, Patricia A. White, 54, of Red Wing, Minn., left the world peacefully on August 25, 2009, after long-term victory over chronic illness. Patti resided at Jordan Towers where she hosted son Joshua Shafer and grandson Brayden Shafer; daughter Ericka Otterson; nieces Amanda Erdman, Alyssa Otterson, Maryann Bakos, Andrea Bakos, and Shawna McCrae; and sisters Dorothy Otterson and Audrey Bakos in visits filled with great food and love. Throughout life, Patti's passions included education, cinema, crafts, and supporting her family.
Othmar L. Fox, 85, of Miesville, died Aug. 26, 2009, at the Fairview Medical Center, Red Wing. Othmar was born April 1, 1924, in Miesville to Albert and Anna (Schaffer) Fox. He married Betty Jensen July 31, 1946, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Cannon Falls. Othmar farmed in the Miesville area his entire life. He was an excellent cabinet maker, woodworker, and loved to hunt and fish.
Gordon H. Rothe, 82, of Elmwood, passed away Aug. 18 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand from heart disease. Gordon was born on June 25, 1927, in St. Paul, Minn. He was the son of Gustav and Elvera (Schultz) Rothe. He lived with his family in Millville, Minn., Ellsworth, Wis., Maiden Rock, Wis., and finally settling in Waverly, Wis., to farm. Gordon was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plum City for 65 years and during that time he was very active, serving on many boards. Gordon married Harriet Johnson on April 14, 1956, in Maiden Rock and they had 53 great years together.
Jerry W. Roper, 60, of Lake City, died from injuries as the result of an auto accident near Beach, N.D., on Tuesday. Arrangements are pending at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel.
Lydia Ann "Lyd" Lien, 89, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, August 26, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 23, 1920, to Rudy and Lydia (Mann) Lother. She attended Lindgren Elementary School and graduated from Ellsworth High School. She worked for the S.B. Foot Tanning Company for 18 years and was the owner of Lyd's Bar in Hager City. She is survived by her son, Gary (Deedra Vokes) Lien of Hager City; a brother, George (Lois Kask) Lother of Diamond Bluff; granddaughter, Lindsay Lien; nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Hazel Weberg, 89, of Welch, died Monday at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park in Red Wing. She was born June 24, 1920, in Red Wing to Swan and Edith (Rundquist) Hokenstrom. She graduated from Central High School in 1938. Hazel married Wallace Weberg on Oct. 7, 1944, in Red Wing. After they married they lived in Burnside for five years, moving to Welch in 1949. She worked at Durkee Atwood during the war. She also worked at F.W. Woolworth Company for six years, and later in the office of Red Wing Pottery and the Red Wing Milling Company.
Donald W. Nelson, 73, of Aitkin, Minn., died Sunday at his residence. He was born May 11, 1936, in Red Wing to August Hilmer and Laura (Breuer) Nelson. He graduated from Red Wing High School. Don was united in marriage to Nancy (Town) on Nov. 23, 1957, in Rochester. He was employed by Northwestern Bell/US West for 37 years, retiring in 1990. He then worked five winters at Lone Mountain Ranch in Big Sky, Mont., while at the same time building his retirement home in the summers.
Billie Elizabeth Brevitz Chicquette, 95, Red Wing, died Monday at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born July 15, 1914, in Maiden Rock Township, the daughter of William Henry and Anna Augusta (Brown) Chicquette. She was baptized, confirmed and joined the Hartland Methodist Church in 1926. Her membership was transferred to the University First United Methodist Church in Southeast Minneapolis. She was a member of the Eastern Star University Chapter 269 in St. Paul. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1936 and from Business College in Eau Claire, Wis., in 1941.
