Oct. 12, 2009 George "Red" Reinhart, 87, of Red Wing, died Monday, Oct. 12, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Elmwood, Wis., to Delbert and Velma (Turner) Reinhart and lived in Red Wing his entire life. He was a 1940 graduate of Red Wing Central High School and served in the U.S. Army Battery B 346th FABN- 91st Infantry, serving in North Africa and Italy. He married Dolores "De" Luhman on Nov. 13, 1943. While in high school Red worked at the Bucket O' Blood Café.
Oct. 9, 2009 Paul L. King, age 89, of Stockholm, died Friday, Oct. 9, at the Kinnic Long Term Care in River Falls. Paul was born on Jan. 18, 1920, in Sanish, N.D. He was the son of Francis and Christine (Erickson) King. Paul graduated from the Ross High School in 1938. After high school, Paul joined the CCC Camp in Medicine Lake, Mont. Paul married Ethel Hartung on July 24, 1944, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Arkansaw.
James Robert Boxrud, age 68, of Red Wing, died unexpectedly after a brief battle with cancer on Monday, Oct. 5, at Saint Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Jim was born a twin on July 5, 1941, to Edward and Mayme (Diercks) Boxrud in Red Wing. He grew up in Goodhue and graduated from Goodhue High School in 1959. He enlisted in the United States Navy in June of 1959 and served his country for three years until being honorably discharged in 1962. He returned home after serving in the military and went to work at the Red Wing Shoe Company. On Sept.
Joseph R. Welke, World War II veteran and longtime Red Wing resident, passed away Sunday, Sept. 27, at the age of 91, after a brief, courageous battle with cancer. He was cared for and surrounded by his loving family in his home at the time of his death. Joe was born Feb. 11, 1918, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Dr. Ernest and Leah (Stahl) Welke. The family moved to Madison where Joe attended school and graduated from high school in 1936. He went on to attend Ripon College, Ripon, Wis., and graduated in 1941.
Kim Olson Voth, 54, passed away at the Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, Va., Sept. 22 after a brief illness. She was born in Neosho, Mo., on June 26, 1955. Kim had lived in the Washington, D.C., area for the past 18 years, spending her time between homes in Alexandria and Milton, Del. Kim graduated in 1973 from Central High School in Red Wing.
Louise M. Johnson, 91, of Zumbrota died Thursday at the Zumbrota Health Services. Memorial mass will be 11 a.m. today at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Zumbrota with Father Tim Dolan officiating. Inurnment will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel in Zumbrota.
Mr. Richard Oliver "Dick" Clark, 63, of Sebastian, Fla., died Saturday, Sept. 19, at the VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach, Fla. He was born in Bridgeton, N.J., and lived in Sebastian for eight years, coming from Hastings, Minn. He was a computer engineer and one of the founders of Star Tech Computers in Red Wing. He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and a former member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church, Hastings. He was a member of the Sebastian Elks Lodge. He served in the U.S.
Memorial service for Eugene R. Carlson, 87, of Winnetka, Calif., and formerly of Red Wing, will be the evening of Sunday at Marie's Casual Dining & Lounge. Burial will be 11 a.m. Sunday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Hertha V. Strusz, 79, of Goodhue died on Thursday morning, Sept. 17, at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park in Red Wing. The funeral service will be today at 7 p.m. at The Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel in Zumbrota. The Rev. Andrew Krause will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Hertha Viola Schumacher was born Aug. 28, 1930, in Ashley, N.D., to John and Lydia (nee Schweigert) Schumacher. She graduated from Ashley High School in 1948.
