Navigating the holiday season can be stressful even in the best of times. Following the death of a loved one, the holidays can be devastating. Mayo Clinic Health System's Hospice department is offering a free program to help mourners cope with grief during the holidays. There are two sessions available: 1-2:30 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Professional Community Center, 1407 W. Fourth St.
COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. — A Red Wing man suspended from a central Minnesota college for alleged sexual misconduct with a female student after a night of Halloween partying last year is suing for violation of rights and unfair treatment. Aaron Wildenborg, 20, was subjected to "discriminatory gender bias" during the investigative and disciplinary process, including failure by school officials to investigate alleged sexual misconduct by the female accuser, according to the suit filed Oct. 25 in U.S. District Court.
As construction gets underway on the new St. Crispin Living Community, staff and residents said they are already looking forward to moving into the 64-bed nursing facility. "The wonderful thing is that everything is going to be connected," said Debby Bradley, St. Crispin Living Community chaplain.
A Bloomington, Minn., man faces a felony burglary charge stemming from his alleged involvement in a Sept. 26 incident including stolen vehicles and a cornfield search near the Goodhue-Dakota county line. Alexander Fredrick Parker, 23, made his first court appearance Sept. 29 in Dakota County on a charge of second-degree burglary. Two suspects were taken into custody Monday, Sept. 26, after a bizarre sequence of chases and vehicle crashes in Cannon Falls and Dakota County. According to a news release Monday by Cannon Falls police: Police responded to a driving complaint around 9:21 a.m. of a pickup truck pulling a car trailer with its ramps down. When an officer neared State Highway 20, he came across a motor vehicle crash between a semitrailer and a classic car. The driver of the car reportedly fled the scene on foot.
A former Red Wing nursing home employee was sentenced Monday, Sept. 19, in Goodhue County District Court after pleading guilty to a pair of theft charges including stealing a resident's $4,000 wedding ring and bringing it to a pawn shop in 2015.

The public is invited to contribute to the update of the Cannon Valley Trail comprehensive plan at two open houses this month. It is the first update to the plan in 24 years. The first meeting will be 5-6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, in Cannon Falls City Hall, held in conjunction with an open house hosted by Goodhue and Dakota Counties for a Lake Bylleby Regional Park master plan. The second meeting will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, in the Red Wing Public Library.
