Goodhue County commissioners showed interest in jumping on the solar energy bandwagon Tuesday after hearing two proposals for subscriber agreements with solar gardens. Jamie Borell with Innovative Power Systems and Mark Andrew with GreenMark Solar each laid out their companies’ plans to build local solar gardens and partner with the county as an anchor tenant. Campground proposals sought Goodhue County Board voted 4-1 to issue a request for proposals to purchase county-owned land next to Lake Byllesby Park for a campground. The board voted last month to end a public-private partnership with Cannon Falls Canoe and Bike to develop a campground that stalled due to a lack of state grant funding. Commissioner Ron Allen forwarded the motion with a comment noting the county is working to re-zone the property for campground use.
