Trevor Diesing rose through the ranks of the military. Partly because he loved his job, partly because of his personality. Outgoing. Fun. Helpful. It was easy to use such nice words when describing the 30-year-old full-time Army staff sergeant. That's why it's so hard for Al Langer to believe Diesing, the man he's known for 16 years, is gone. A roadside bomb killed the Maiden Rock native at 1 a.m. Friday, Iraqi time or 4 p.m. CDT Thursday. "This hits too close to home," Langer said.
ELLSWORTH -- It looks like there's a little piece of Ellsworth in Pierce County. And that's North Dakota. In the North Dakota county which has the same name there stands a courthouse. It was built by the same firm that constructed the historic courthouse in Pierce County, Wisconsin. But the folks in Wisconsin don't care much about what's in North Dakota. Their historic domed building turned 100 years old this month, and they're throwing party to celebrate. The Pierce County Courthouse centennial celebration kicks off Sunday at 2 p.m.
