Wrestling: Goodhue, Pine Island fall in HVL duals

Class AA's top-ranked team, Kasson-Mantorville, won the first six matches on Thursday, and lost just three total, in a 52-15 Hiawatha Valley League win over Goodhue.

The KoMets picked up bonus points in all but three of their 11 victories, while two of the Wildcats three wins came with bonus points. Baxter O'Reilly earned a 1-0 decision at 138 pounds, which was followed by successive wins by pin from Mason Huemann at 152 and Kelby O'Reilly at 160.

Goodhue heads to Armstrong High School in Plymouth on Saturday for an invitational.

Byron 53, Pine Island 24

With six forfeits, Pine Island had little chance to beat Byron on Thursday, and the Bears made sure to take advantage for a 53-24 Hiawatha Valley League dual victory.

In the six contested matches, Byron picked up bonus points in three with two pins and a technical fall. The Panthers got points from Dan Krier (fall at 132 pounds), Dawson Fallon (forfeit), Evan Goplen (fall at 145) and Broghan Kunz (fall at 160).

Both teams forfeited at 285.
