Girls Soccer: Byron bounces Red Wing from postseason

Body:

Fourth-seeded Byron ended Red Wing's run on Thursday with a 4-0 win over the Wingers in the quarterfinals of the Section 1A tournament.

All of the Bears goals were in the first half, and all four were from different players.

“That's a great group of midfielders,” said Red Wing head coach David Thurston. “We kept it 0-0 in the second half, but the damage had already been done.”

Ashlynn Nystuen made 18 saves for the 12th-seeded Wingers, playing all but the final four minutes. Red Wing had four shots on goal.

“Give credit to these girls, we've had a great season,” Thurston said. “We've been behind and never gave up.”
