Girls Soccer: Red Wing beats Faribault, falls to Albert Lea

Red Wing earned a split this week, with a 2-1 loss to Albert Lea on Tuesday, and a 4-3 win over Faribault on Thursday.

The Tigers scored both goals in the first half on Tuesday, and then were able to keep the lead with a strong defense.

The Wingers had six shots on goal for the game, and got their lone goal Matea Simonson with 1 minute, 6 seconds left in the game. Ashlyn Nystuen had 14 saves in the loss.

On Thursday, Red Wing won in overtime with Lauren Radtke's tally at 1:57. Elayna Meyer and Cayanne Korder scored in the first half for the Wingers, while Ella Simonson converted a penalty kick in the second.

Red Wing had 21 shots on goal for the game, while Faribault had 14. Nystuen had 11 saves.

The Falcons had goal just over a minute in, and added their second two minutes apart in the second half, the first coming at 14:02.

The Wingers (2-7, 2-3 Big Nine) head to Cannon Falls Monday before returning home Tuesday for a conference match with Owatonna.
