Boys Soccer: Red Wing takes losses against JM, Century
The Red Wing boys’ soccer team is still in search of win No. 1 after a pair of Big Nine Conference losses this week against Rochester John Marshall in overtime on Thursday (4-3) and Century on Tuesday (2-1).
On Thursday, JM’s Mohamed Mohamed scored the game-winning goal on a free kick to break up a 3-3 tie.
Macklin Maroushek tallied a pair of goals and an assist for Red Wing while Barrent Blaney scored a goal and Jeyson Roque provided a helper in the loss. In goal, John Rothering came up with 16 saves against the Rockets.
In Tuesday’s loss against Century, Casey Witts had the lone goal for the Wingers, with Bryan Lopez assisting on the play. Keegyn McNamee stopped 13 of 15 shots at goalkeeper.
Jok Ajak and Andrew Coleman both scored goals for the Panthers, and Connor Watson was credited with an assist in the victory.
On Saturday, Red Wing (0-5, 0-4 Big Nine) will host Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa in a Section 1A matchup.
