Girls Tennis: Wingers go 0-2 in Rochester

Two days in Rochester proved to be a tough draw for the Red Wing girls’ tennis team this week, with a loss to Century on Tuesday, 5-2, and a sweep against Lourdes, 7-0.

Against Century, both of the Wingers’ wins came in doubles. The No. 2 pair of Megan Jeranek and Sydney Flack overcame a first-set loss to beat Carley Madsen and Isabel McGarry 1-6, 6-1, 11-9. Then at No. 3, the pair of Solveig Roth and Ellie Schlangen won 6-4, 6-3 against Kathleen Thompson and Sophia Nevenheim.

Versus Lourdes on Friday, the closest match came at No. 3 doubles, where Mya Benway and Rachel Borgen fell 6-3, 6-3. Roth had the tightest singles match, losing at No. 3, 6-2, 6-2.

On Tuesday, Red Wing returns home for a Big Nine Conference dual with Austin.
