Girls Swimming: Red Wing opens with loss at Faribault
The Red Wing girls' swimming and diving team took to the pool for the first time this fall on Thursday, losing a Big Nine Conference dual to Faribault, 94-85.
Cecelia De Jong got the Wingers' lone win in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1 minute, 1.83 seconds.
Sammy Kriese and Grace O'Brien had a pair of second-place finishes for Red Wing. Kriese was second in the 200 individual medley (2:25.00) and 100 breaststroke (1:14.48) while O'Brien was the runner-up in the 500 freestyle (5:53.29) and 100 backstroke (1:07.93).
Madison Beyers (200 freestyle, 2:15.48) and Carli King (diving, 133.20 points) also claimed second-place finishes for the Wingers, who will host their first Big Nine meet on Thursday, Sept. 7 against Rochester Mayo.
