Girls Track: Wingers roll in Rochester tri

The Red Wing girls’ track and field team cruised past Rochester Mayo and Winona on Tuesday in a three-team Big Nine Conference triangular in Rochester.

Ella Scott and Madisyn Lyons both had two first-place finishes for Red Wing. Scott was the top runner in the 100-meter hurdles (18.43 seconds) and 300 hurdles (53.32). Lyons and teammate Paige Patterson had 1-2 finishes in the long jump (15 feet, 4.5 inches; 14-11.75) and triple jump (32-7; 32.6.75). Lyons was also second in the high jump at 4-10.

Emily Hart was first in the 200 at 27.35 while teammate Breck Bergin placed third at 28.37. The 3,200 yielded a 1-2-3 finish for Red Wing’s Cecelia De Jong (12:47.13), Grace Dube (12:49.58) and Serenna Snider (13:59.06). The final top individual finish came from Taylor Heise in the 400 (1:03.00).

The 4x200 relay finished in first place at 1:50.73. Grace Johnson (5:36.52) and Elayna Meyer (5:43.94) went 2-3 in the 1,600, Abi Deming placed second in the discus (87-6) and Lily Befort was third in the shot put (30-5).
