Girls Golf: Wingers win home triangular

Red Wing didn't break 300 again, but it came close in a dominating performance in a home invitational on Tuesday, totaling a 308 to clear Northfield (350) by 42 strokes. Lakeville North (352) came in third, followed by Winona (353), Rochester Mayo (366), Albert Lea (377) and Rochester John Marshall (386).

Winger Stephanie Herzog claimed the medal with a 3-under-par 67, three strokes better than Lexi Partington (70) of Winona. Other scorers for Red Wing included Leah Herzog (72), Sophia Yoemans (74) and Sydney Flack (89). Emily Otteson (95) and Ava Bremseth (97) also competed for the Wingers.

On Monday, the Wingers will compete in a triangular in Rochester.


Stephanie Herzog had a hole-in-one on No. 17, putting an exclamation point on her 4-under par 66 to lead Red Wing to a 294-388 victory over Park on Monday.

Leah Herzog came in with a 1-under 69, with Sophia Yoemans (72) and Sydney Flack (97) also scoring for the Wingers.

Head coach Mark Herzog said the conditions were great for scoring. “Great weather,” Mark said. “(And) no wind.”
