Baseball: Wingers fall in extras

Kyle Hawe held Bemidji in check through five innings, but the Lumberjacks broke out in the sixth and rallied for a 10-9 victory over Red Wing on Friday.

Bemidji scored five runs in the sixth, three in the seventh and then a game-deciding two in the eighth. The Wingers had a 7-0 lead going into the sixth, and left the tying run on third to end the game.

Hawe allowed two runs, one earned, over 5 1/3 innings on one hit and one walk. Seth Morem and Seth Yeatman combined to get out of the sixth, with both giving up three runs on a combined four walks and two hits. Brodie Smith took the loss, throwing two innings and allowing two runs and three hits.

Zach Harding and Morem both had two RBI, with Morem and Seth Cushing each finishing with three hits.

Red Wing is scheduled to host Austin on Tuesday.
