Baseball: Century escapes with win over Red Wing
Ben Domagala had complete control through four innings, but an error, a sacrifice bunt and a timely two-run single erased Red Wing's one-run lead as Rochester Century rallied for a 2-1 victory on Thursday.
Seth Cushing gave the Wingers a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning with a double to left field that scored Seth Morem. That gave Domagala something to work with, and it was enough as the Panthers were able to get just two base runners through four innings, and one of those was on an error.
Another error opened the fifth, and a single followed preceding the bunt. Andrew Hanson then singled up the middle, scoring two and giving Century the lead.
Red Wing had its chance in the seventh, but Panther Palmer Michelson escaped with the win by leaving the bases loaded on a lineout to shortstop.
Domagala did not issue a walk in the loss, and struck out one. Tyler DeFore, Cushing and Seth Yeatman each had two hits for the Wingers, who had nine as a team compared to just three for Century.
Red Wing (2-2) hosts Bemidji on Friday, and are home on Tuesday as well with Austin coming to town.
