Girls Swimming: Winona paddles past Red Wing
Owing to deep showings one through five, Winona came away with a 99-86 victory over Red Wing on Thursday.
The Wingers got the first win of the meet in the opening event as Grace O'Brien, Sammy Kriese, Cecelia DeJong and Claire King put up a time of 2 minutes, 0.45 seconds in the 200-yard medley relay. Kriese then came back and won the 200 individual medley in 2:26.62.
King held off a tough charge from three Winhawks in the 50 free, winning in 27 seconds flat. DeJong also grabbed an individual medal in the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:04.70.
O'Brien became the fourth member of the relay team to get a solo victory with a 1:07.63 in the 100 backstroke. Kriese then tripled up with a win in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:15.63.
Red Wing has one meet on tap next week, on Thursday at Northfield.
