Softball: Wingers roughed up by New Prague

Bad defense and an opponent with an explosive offense can be a bad combination. That turned out to be the case Monday as Red Wing fell 18-1 in five innings to New Prague in a game that saw the Wingers commit six errors.

“They hit the ball well,” said Red Wing head coach Jon Bohmbach. “They scored against us like this last year, but we didn’t help ourselves. We came out flat. But we just have to come back and have a better performance.”

The Wingers managed four hits in the game, including singles from Mary Bender, Hannah Walch, and Hailey Kuhl, and an RBI double from McKenzie Cota.

Red Wing (1-3) will host Chaska Wednesday, then head to Pepin for an invitational on Friday.
