Boys Hockey: Chanhassen whips Wingers

Less than six-and-a-half minutes into the game, Chanhassen had a two-goal lead, an advantage that would easily hold up as the Storm sent Red Wing out of town with a 5-1 Missota Conference victory Monday night.

Ben Bjerken and Luke Rongitsch scored first-period goals for Chanhassen before Tyler Rea could get the Wingers on the board 5 minutes, 50 seconds into the second with an unassisted short-handed tally.

The Storm would answer with two goals in the final frame – one each from Eric Worre and Riley Meyer – to give Chanhassen its fifth league victory.

Adam Defore made 27 saves in the loss as Red Wing was able to generate just 18 shots of offense, including a first-period total of two shots on net.

The Wingers (3-19 overall, 2-9 Missota) have three regular-season games remaining. Red Wing will host Shakopee Thursday before heading to New Prague Tuesday, Feb. 11. The Wingers will close the season with a home game against Chaska Feb. 13.
