After a 6-0 loss in the first game of the Albert Lea tournament Saturday morning, the Red Wing girls soccer team responded with a shootout win in a 0-0 game against Fairmont.

"We are proud of the team's effort and happy it resulted in another tie," said Red Wing co-head coach Paul McNamee. "We are also very excited that we were able to win in the shootout and hope to gain some momentum going forward in the season."

Maddie Erie, Calli Hughes and Taylor Heise scored during the shootout for the Wingers. Paige Harlow, Red Wing's goaltender, made the winning save, preserving the victory for the Wingers.

The tie is the second in six games for the Wingers, who have yet to win a match this season.

Red Wing will be back on the pitch Tuesday with a Missota Conference match against Farmington. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Red Wing High School.
