A late comeback attempt wouldn't come to fruition for Pine Island on Monday as it lost, 3-1, to Medford.
Pine Island lost the first two sets to an identical 25-17 score but came back to win the third set 25-20. The Panthers lost in the fourth set again however to a 25-17 score.
Jordyn Mathison led Pine Island with seven kills, Jordan Brehmer had 15 digs and Sydney Andrist had 27 assists.
Next up for Pine Island is a trip to Z-M on Thursday.
Blooming Prairie 3, Randolph 1
Randolph fell victim to another close match on Monday, losing 3-1 to Blooming Prairie. The Rockets lost the first set 25-21, won the second 25-23 and lost the final two sets 25-20 and 25-13.
Megan Erickson had nine kills and four blocks for the Rockets, while Kenna Foss recorded 12 assists, Meredith Taylor had 15 digs, Morgyn Otte had 15 assists.
Randolph travels to Glenville-Emmons on Tuesday.
North St. Paul Tournament
Cannon Falls went back-and-forth on Saturday when it traveled to North St. Paul for a tournament. The Bombers finished the day 2-2 but nearly every match was tightly contested. Against New Life Academy, the Bombers lost the first set 25-12, won the second 25-22 and lost the third 25-22. A win was found against Tartan, with the Bombers taking the first set 25-22, losing the second 25-17 and winning the third, 15-11.
Cannon Falls was swept by North High School (25-9, 25-17, 25-20) but then won with a sweep of its own against Henry Sibley (25-16, 25-18).
Tournament leaders for Cannon Falls included: Makayla Bowen, 19 kills; Molly Bowen, 39 digs; Rachel Huseth, 50 assists and eight aces; and Sara Twedt, 17 blocks.
Cannon Falls next hosts Hayfield on Tuesday.
