Voth is 8U state champion in 50 freestyle
Sammy Voth and CeCelia DeJong represented the Red Wing Swim Club at the MN State Long Course Swimming Championships on July 27-28 at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Voth is the 8U state champion in the 50 freestyle with a time of 38.01 seconds. She was also runner-up in the 100 freestyle with a time of one minute, 29.32 seconds.
In other events, she placed fourth in the 50 breaststroke (53.19) — an improvement of five seconds from her seed time — and sixth in the 50 backstroke (46.76) — a drop of four seconds from her seed time. This was Voth's first year participating in the state meet and her second year on the team.
DeJong made the finals in the 100 butterfly, finishing 14th with a time of 1:06.63, an almost two-second improvement on her seed time. She also participated in the 50 freestyle and 200 butterfly in which she dropped over eight seconds.
