Area Boys Soccer: Wildcats shut out by Raiders

The Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa boys' soccer team ran into a buzzsaw against a stout Hastings defense, getting outshot 18-1 and losing 7-0 to the Raiders on Saturday.

Jose Fernandez, PIZM's starting keeper, was injured in the first half forcing freshman Corey Peters into action. Facing heavy pressure from Hastings' offense in the second half, Peters stopped four shots on nine attempts.

Dan Krier put the only shot on goal for PIZM.

PIZM (1-4) travels to Lake City (0-3) on Tuesday.

Cannon Falls 1, Concordia Academy 0

Cannon Falls shut out host Concordia Academy on Saturday, 1-0. Individual statistics were unavailable.

Cannon Falls (4-1-1) hosts Stewartville on Tuesday.

La Crescent 8, Lake City 0

Lake City was shut out 8-0 on the road Saturday with a trip to La Crescent. The Tigers were outshout 25-3, with keeper Austin Veronen making 17 saves. La Crescent had six different players score a goal.

Lake City (0-3) next hosts PIZM on Tuesday.
