Area Boys Soccer: PIZM comes up one goal short against LaCrescent
The Pine Island/Zumbrota Mazeppa boys' soccer team played host to LaCrescent on Saturday but found itself on the wrong end of a 2-1 game.
All of the scoring happened in the first half with LaCrescent scoring both of its goals and PIZM's Daniel Krier finding the back of the net.
PIZM was outshot 8-5, with Krier taking three of them. Jack Smothers and Drew Christopherson also got the ball on goal in the second half.
"We played well throughout the game against LaCrescent with three different attackers — junior Daniel Krier, sophomore Jack Smothers and freshman Drew Christopherson — taking shots on goal," said PIZM head boys' soccer coach Rafal Konik. "The defense, led by senior Noah Kneeland held the Lancers to only two shots in the second half. The midfielders, led by junior Isaac Schmol worked hard to create scoring opportunities for the attackers."
PIZM will look to get into the win column on Tuesday when it hosts Cannon Falls.
