Boys Hockey: Early defensive woes doom Red Wing
Rochester Century maintained its perfect record in the Big Nine Conference with Thursday's 3-0 win over Red Wing.
The Panthers, unbeaten in four league games, got first-period goals from Nick Aney and Lyncoln Bielenberg-Howarth while piling up 19 shots on goal. Connor Olson scored 32 seconds into the second before the Wingers found their defensive game, allowing 13 shots on goal the rest of the way.
Zach Harding stopped 29 of the 32 shots he faced in the loss, while Jackson Killinger was tested only 15 times in the shutout.
Red Wing (1-11) will look to end a nine-game losing streak on Tuesday at Winona. The Wingers' four-game road trip ends Thursday at Albert Lea with a three-game home stand coming Jan. 16-20 against South St. Paul, Austin and Owatonna.
