Girls Hockey: Red Wing falls to Duluth Marshall


Taylor Heise scored an early third-period goal to pull Red Wing into a tie, but Duluth Marshall's Emily Lemker scored later in the frame to give the Hilltoppers a 3-2 victory on Friday.

Gracie Thomas scored the only goal of the first period to give Duluth a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. Solveig Roth, on assists from Eliza DiNatale and Heise, tied the game 10 minutes, 56 seconds into the second period.

Claire Casey made it 2-1 Hilltoppers at 12:04, which held until Heise's unassisted power play goal at 0:49 of the third. Lemker's tally came at 9:13.

Tyler McGrath made 31 saves on 34 shots in the loss, while Charlesa Prior stopped 31 of 33 Red Wing shots.
