Boys Soccer Wrap: PIZM rallies for win over Lake City

Daniel Krier's second-half hat trick propelled Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa to a 3-2 victory over Lake City on Thursday.

The Tigers held a 1-0 lead at the break, on a goal from Luke Meincke. Krier tied the game, then Brandan Koplin converted a penalty kick to put Lake City up, 2-1.

Krier scored twice more to give the Wildcats the win.

Satchell Ekblad made 24 saves for the Tigers, while Max Smothers stopped 18 for PIZM.


PIZM 2, K-M 1

Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa erased a 1-0 lead at halftime, using a goal with 11 minutes, 35 seconds left to top Kasson-Mantorville, 2-1, on Tuesday.

Rheis Johnson tied the game in the second half for the Wildcats, with Rheis Jensen providing the game-winner. Max Smothers face just four shots on goal, making three saves to seal the victory for PIZM.

Stewartville 3, Lake City 0

Lake City trailed by just one at halftime, but Stewartville added on in the second half for a 3-0 win over the Tigers.

Nathan Vetsch scored the game's first two goals, while David Wilson added Stewartville's third.

Lake City's Satchell Ekblad made 17 saves, while Stewartville's net-minder, Andrew Simmons, stopped all 16 shots that got to him.
