Area Volleyball Wrap: Cannon Falls sweeps Lourdes

Cannon Falls' defense was on its game on Thursday in a 3-0 (25-10, 25-21, 25-16) win over Rochester Lourdes.

Kara Loeschke had 16 assists, 10 digs and six kills for the Bombers, who were led defensively by Tatum Pickar, who had 21 digs and four ace serves.

Rachel Huseth had 10 assists, seven digs and three aces in the win, while Olivia Thomley came through with five ace blocks and four kills.

Goodhue 3, Lake City 0

Goodhue got 11 kills from Kennedy Buck in its 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-23) win over Lake City on Thursday.

Kate Opsahl added eight kills for the Wildcats, and Mariah Tipcke had 31 assists, 12 digs and a pair of aces in the victory.

Delaney Issendorf had 11 kills for the Tigers, and Morgan West led the defense with 12 digs. Elyse Dalager had 20 assists in the loss.

Goodhue (3-5) and Lake City (0-6) both head to Wabasha for a tournament on Saturday.

K-W 3, Hayfield 2

Kenyon-Wanamingo and Hayfield battled for five sets on Thursday, and the Knights came away with the 3-2 (27-25, 22-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-12) victory.

Ally Peterson had 23 kills, 18 digs, four aces and a pair of blocks for K-W, while Maddie McCauley had 38 assists, 10 digs and two blocks. Sydney Way came up with 17 digs, and Julianna Boyum added 10 kills in the win.

K-W (4-1) will participate in the Wabasha-Kellogg tournament on Saturday.

Byron 3, Pine Island 1

Pine Island pushed Byron in all four sets on Thursday, but the Bears were just strong enough to escape with a 3-1 (26-24, 21-25, 25-18, 25-21) victory.

Katelyn Kennedy and Megan Quintero each had 10 kills to lead the Panthers, with Sydney Andrist facilitating the offense with 31 assists.

Pine Island (5-4) heads to Medford on Monday, and to Triton on Tuesday.

K-M 3, Z-M 1

Kasson-Mantorville brought Zumbrota-Mazeppa back to .500 on Thursday with a 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 25-17, 25-20) victory.

Aspen Brubaker had 13 kills and 10 digs for the Cougars, with Megan Johnson and Rylee Schliep each adding 11 digs. Hannah Mensink had 10 assists and 10 digs, and Johnson added 12 assists.

Z-M is 3-3 on the season with two road games, at Hayfield on Tuesday and at Kenyon-Wanamingo on Thursday, slated for next week.
