Soccer: Lake City boys win shootout with St. Charles

Lake City and St. Charles put up a grand total of nine goals on Thursday night. In the end, the visiting Tigers were able to edge the Saints for a 6-3 non-conference victory.

Luke Meincke collected a hat trick for Lake City. Jacob Sanders had a pair of goals, including an unassisted corner goal in the first half, while Charlie White also scored in the victory.

In the net, goalkeeper Satchell Ekblad stopped 20 shots to collect the win.

On Tuesday, the Tigers will play host to Kasson-Mantorville.

PIZM 2, Dover-Eyota 0

After a slow start, Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa scored two second-half goals in less than a minute to secure a 2-0 victory against Dover-Eyota on Thursday.

The Wildcats' first goal came in the 60th minute when Connor Heitman got the ball to Danny Krier for the score. Under a minute later, Krier scored for the second time in the game as PIZM managed to put up 17 shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Max Smothers had to make just three saves in the shutout win.

On Saturday, Winona Cotter will visit the Wildcats in Pine Island.


St. Charles 10, Lake City 0

Up 6-0 through the first 40 minutes, St. Charles rolled to a 10-0 non-conference win over Lake City on Thursday night.

Tigers goalkeeper Carley Platte finished with 11 saves while Lake City managed five shots on goal in the loss.

The Tigers will be at home Monday against Winona Cotter.
