Legion Baseball:Post 54 still looking for first victory

With two runs and four straight hits in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Red Wing Legion baseball team was able to string together some quality offense. But with Prior Lake scoring six runs in the top of the frame, Post 54 was in too deep a hole in a 12-2 loss Thursday at the Red Wing Athletic Field.

"We just aren't playing very good baseball right now," Red Wing coach Corey Tauer said after the team fell to 0-7. "We have to pitch better, play better defense and be more consistent at the plate. That isn't to say everyone is playing bad, but we aren't playing to our potential and it's showing up as a bunch of losses right now."

Marcus Walm led Post 54's offense, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Tre Moore was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Grant Rolen finished 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored. Teddy Tauer also scored a run for Red Wing, going 1-for-3.

In the fourth, Teddy led off with a single, then Rolen and Moore had back-to-back doubles, followed by an RBI single from Walm.

On the mound, Rolen took the loss after allowing seven runs (five earned) on nine hits and two walks with a pair of strikeouts in three innings.
