Softball: Randolph takes first loss

Top-ranked (1A) Randolph took its first loss of the season Tuesday with a 9-1 defeat against Waterville-Elysian-Morristown.

“We were not sharp tonight and made too many mistakes in the field,” said Rockets head coach Dennis Trom.

Megan Erickson was 1-for-3 with an RBI, followed by Mackenna Otte going 1-for-3 with a run scored. Morgyn Otte took the loss after allowing seven runs on three hits and four walks to go with three strikeouts. Lindsey Grant threw 3 1/3 innings of relief, with two runs, three hits and five walks allowed with one strikeout.

Randolph committed four errors, resulting in seven unearned runs.

The Rockets (11-1) resume play Monday at home against Triton.
