Baseball: Randolph overtakes Goodhue

With a four-run fourth inning, 10th-ranked (Class 1A) Randolph was finally able to pull away from Goodhue for a 9-5 victory on Saturday.

At the top of the lineup, Grant Otte finished 4-for-5 with four runs scored and an RBI. Matt Olson was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, three RBI and a run, and Alex Ratzlaff finished 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Brandon Ratzlaff and Andrew Wenstrom both hit for doubles, with Brandon crossing home twice in the victory. On the mound, Matt Weber got the win after six innings of work.

Ryan Schoenfelder and Nicholas Thomforde both were 2-for-4, with Schoenfelder collecting a double and a run while Nicholas had an RBI. Lucas Thomforde was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Casey Ryan went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Both teams resume play Thursday, with Randolph hosting St. Croix Lutheran and Goodhue traveling to Lake City.
