Softball: Randolph sweeps Mabel-Canton
Even after a doubleheader with an extra-inning game thrown in, Randolph's record remains unscathed after sweeping a Southeast Conference doubleheader with Mabel-Canton on Tuesday. The Rockets won the first game 11-9 in eight innings, followed by an 8-3 win in the nightcap.
In Game 1, Andrea Splichal was 3-for-4 with three runs and a pair of RBI, followed by Lindsay Grant's three-hit, three-RBI performance. Mackenna Otte and Megan Erickson were both 2-for-4 with a pair of runs, with Erickson adding two doubles and an RBI. Morgyn Otte was the winning pitcher with 12 strikeouts over seven innings of work.
In Game 2, Splichal, Mackenna and Maddie Grant were all 2-for-4 with an RBI. Mackenna added a RBI and a double, and Splichal chipped in with an RBI. Lindsey took the victory after allowing just five hits and one walk with two strikeouts.
“The girls showed a lot of character being down three runs in the top of the seventh and then winning it in extra innings to get the victory,” said Randolph head coach Dennis Trom. “Our pitching is solid and our hitting is starting to come around.”
