Girls Tennis: Lake City opens with a loss

In its first action of the season, the Lake City girls tennis team came out of Waseca with a 6-1 loss to the Bluejays.

Juli Keller and Katie Johnson snagged the Tigers’ lone victory, taking the No. 3 doubles match with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 decision over Halle Mercier and Anna Johnson.

The only other match to reach three sets was at No. 2 doubles, where Carley Cronin and Erica Hubbard fell 5-7, 6-4, 10-4 to Stephanie Butterfield and Mallorie Gehloff.

With its first home meet nearly a month away, Lake City will visit New Life Academy of Woodbury at 1 p.m. Thursday, then square off against Rochester John Marshall at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
