Prescott High School's baseball team will claim a share of the Middle Border Conference title as the Cardinals 7-0 win over Osceola Tuesday paired up with Ellsworth's 11-9 upset loss to Somerset to make it possible.

Both Pierce County teams will finish with 12-2 MBC records.

Brady Schommer was the winning pitcher for the No. 5 ranked Cardinals and Matt Holman picked up the save. Both pitchers combined to give up just two hits while striking out seven. Justin Lynner led PHS at the plate with two hits and four RBIs. Holman and Matt Brookshaw also drove in runs.

Because of heavy rain yesterday, the Ellsworth-Somerset game was moved to New Richmond. There, No. 3 ranked EHS was unable to hold onto a 6-0 lead as the Spartans took advantage of a whopping 11 Ellsworth errors to scored 10 unanswered runs. The Panthers plated three runs in the top of the sixth to close the gap within a run but Somerset scored an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth and then held off Ellsworth in the seventh.

Isaac Hines had four hits for Ellsworth and Dennis Schutz had two. Both Nick Taranto and Jonah Conway each had two RBIs.

Both Prescott and Ellsworth close their regular seasons with non-conference games. PHS will be at Hudson Thursday and Ellsworth is at Grantsburg Friday.
