Baseball: K-M ends Z-M's season

The Section 1AA-West tournament is stacked at the top, a fact Zumbrota-Mazeppa knew. In case they had forgotten, the Cougars were given that lesson again on Thursday as Kasson-Mantorville ended Z-M’s season with a 17-0 thrashing in the first round of the playoffs.

Freedom Hunt broke up the KoMet no-hitter in the top of the fifth inning, but the damage had been done long before that. Cody Hinrichs threw 2 1/3 innings with two walks, one strikeout, 12 hits and 16 runs (nine earned) allowed to take the loss.

The Cougars had eight errors total, but three in the first inning, and four in the second, dooming any chance at a victory.
