Boys Tennis: Tigers defeat Shattuck-St. Mary's

Thursday was a good day for Lake City. Friday? Not so much.

On Thursday, the Tigers beat Shattuck-St. Mary’s 4-3. But how Lake City got the win is what made the victory special.

Senior Tiger Logan Adler played his first-career singles match, and he made it count with a 6-0, 7-6 (7-2) win over Dae Yoon Kim at the No. 4 spot. Combined with wins at No. 2 singles, and at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, Adler’s victory was the decisive blow in the match.

Brandon Hofschlete got the win at No. 2 singles, with the No. 1 duo of Mitch Medvec and Peyton Fick, and the No. 2 doubles team of Cole Lundell and Sam Mangold also getting victories.

On Friday, Lake City suffered a 6-1 loss to Rochester Lourdes. The Eagles lone loss was at No. 2 doubles where the Lourdes team injury defaulted. Sam Mangold and Lundell got the victory.

No. 5 seed Lake City will visit No. 4 seed Stewartville on Monday in the first round of the Section 1A tournament. The southern Tigers took both matches this season by scores of 6-1 and 5-2.
