Baseball: Cannon Falls sweeps Triton

Cannon Falls pulled off its fourth and fifth straight victories on Tuesday, getting a Hiawatha Valley League sweep over Triton in Dodge City. The Bombers came away as 11-4 winners in Game 1, followed by a 4-2 victory in Game 2.

In the opener, Carter Dombeck, Jonathan Sharot and Levi Prestegard each hit their first career home runs. Sharot led the way offensively, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Hunter Blakeslee also went 3-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Peter Haggerty was 2-for-4 with a run. On the mound, Taylor Carlson got the win after striking out nine and giving up four hits, three walks and two runs in six innings.

In the night cap, Dombeck was 3-for-3 with a solo home run, and Sharot and Brock Peterson were each 2-for-3 with an RBI. Prestegard threw a complete-game gem, striking out 12 and limiting the Cobras to one hit – a two-run home run by Leyenrique Ortiz – along with five walks.

On Wednesday, Cannon Falls hosts Goodhue for another HVL doubleheader.
