Baseball: K-W sweeps Z-M

Kenyon-Wanamingo has been on a hot streak lately, winning nine of its last 10 games. And the last of those two victories came Tuesday against Zumbrota-Mazeppa. The Cougars managed just five hits in the sweep, losing Game 1, 14-0, and Game 2, 10-0, both in five innings.

Six errors cost Z-M in Game 1, but the offense struggled as well with Cody Heitman, Chase Steffen, Jacob Ugland and Cody Hinrichs each producing a hit for the Cougars.

Brady Schoenfelder started the game on the mound, throwing 3 1/3 innings and giving up eight hits, 11 runs (six earned) with one strikeout and one walk to take the loss.

Ugland pitched the first 1 1/3 innings to take the Game 2 loss, giving up six hits and five runs with one walk and one strikeout. Heitman had the lone Z-M hit, a single in the third inning.

The Cougars (3-10) will next face Cannon Falls for a road tilt on Friday.
