Baseball: Dombeck throws no-hitter, Bombers trounce Cougars

Cannon Falls pitcher Carter Dombeck threw a no-hitter at John Burch Park on Thursday, helping the Bombers to a 6-0 victory against Zumbrota-Mazeppa on Thursday.

Dombeck went all seven innings, striking out seven while allowing just three walks in the victory.

“Dombeck and our defense were really solid,” said Cannon Falls head coach Bucky Lindow. “They didn’t allow a runner past first base. Dombeck kept a nice pace and the defensive guys like that.”

The Bombers’ Hunter Blakeslee went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a double.  Bryce Boyle-Hoban went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and six stolen bases, and Jonathan Sharot had a hit and two RBI.

The Cougars’ Cody Hinrichs was pegged with the loss after allowing nine hits, two walks and six runs (five earned) with two strikeouts.

Cannon Falls hosts Lake City on Monday while Z-M travels to Plainview-Elgin-Millville on Friday.
