Baseball: Ellsworth comes back, beats Bloomer

Trailing 4-0 after the top of the second inning, Ellsworth was able to regain its composure and came back to beat Bloomer, 8-6, in non-conference play Monday in Hager City.

The Panthers cut into the four-run deficit with a run in the bottom half of the second, followed by a pair of runs in the third. Then in the fourth, Ellsworth put together a four-run bottom of the fourth, giving the team the lead for good.

Logan Armstrong and Dennis Schutz had two hits apiece, accounting for four of the Panthers’ seven hits. Ellsworth also got helped by six Bloomer errors. On the mound, Eric McGregor and Spencer Schroeder threw three innings apiece for the Panthers, with McGregor striking out five during his stint.

Second-ranked (Division 2) Ellsworth (6-0) is back at home on Tuesday, hosting Osceola for a Middle Border Conference game.
