Baseball: Cannon Falls rolls through Stewartville

Quinton Lindow threw a complete game to lead Cannon Falls to an 11-5 cross-division Hiawatha Valley League victory over Stewartville Thursday afternoon.

Lindow allowed two runs in the first inning, then retired the next 15 batters. Lindow finished with 12 strikeouts, two walks and two hits allowed.

Offensively, the Bombers were led by Garrett Beach, who finished 2 for 3 with a home run, a double and 3 RBI. Brock Peterson also had two hits for Cannon Falls, including a double, while Bryce Boyle-Hoban added a double as well.

As a team, the Bombers walked six times, and were hit by three pitches, while striking out just six times.

“I was pleased with the way we refocused, had a big second inning, then took charge from there,” said Cannon Falls head coach Bucky Lindow. “From the beginning of the second into the sixth, (Quinton) Lindow retired 15 straight hitters.  That gave us a big boost.

“(Catcher) Beach had a great all around day,” Bucky continued. “Great hitting, great job calling the game, and good job blocking pitches. Boyle-Hoban getting on base and scoring runs from his lead-off spot is big for us.”

The Bombers (1-1) will host a double-header Saturday against Kenyon-Wanamingo, then welcome Byron Monday before making the trek to Lake City Thursday.
